I read the PDF version of this. But I'm sure the Cambridge Library Collection edition is real good.This is pretty short, only 166 pages of narrative. And half of that is exposition, mostly about the aborigines they ran into. The most exciting part is when the leader, M.Marion, and his party are treacherously killed by the natives.
This was an especial breath of fresh air after reading the flowery, "Clapperton's Last Expedition", by Lander. The prose in this is wonderfully plain and direct.
There's a fairly extensive preface that seemed good but I mostly skimmed. There are a number of appendices, the only interesting one was the first, the one that discussed different views of the M.Marion massacre. There's also an index for those who need it.
