I have forgotten a lot about the power of holy water. This is a great read to remind Catholics why it is used and the reasons why. Non-Catholics will understand why we bless ourselves upon entering and leaving church plus so much more. This book refreshed my memory, and I will forever carry out the blessings for myself, the sick, my children, the dying, against evil and so much more!
I was hoping for a more in-depth exploration of Holy Water, so was a bit let down to discover I had picked up most of the wisdom contained in this book through a lifetime in Catholicism. Nevertheless, it would be a useful introduction to someone approaching the concept for the first time, as the text is approachable and easy to understand.
This is a short read, but well worth it! It explains the history of Holy Water and how it is used. I particularly enjoyed the last section about how individuals can use it. It is a must read for any Catholic, especially those entering the Church or wanting to know why Catholics use Holy Water.
Holy Water and Its Significance for Catholics by Heinrich Theiler is a very informative book full of knowledge regarding one of the major symbols of the Catholic religious practice. This particular book is obviously revised from an earlier version and the visual effect is distracting (it's like reading photocopied pages instead of the original pages that reach from margin to margin). But for someone who blessed themselves with holy water when coming into and/or exiting a Catholic church this book imparts moving reasons to use Holy water in your own home.
A treasure of ideas for my family to consider becoming more strong in our faith. A highly suggested piece to read and enjoy.
Put your heart into that Holy Water from your church when you bless yourself. It has been proven to have great protection against evil
over centuries. Bless your children before they go to school. It is a prayer without words! Everyone should read this book.
A lot of Catholics don't really know so much on the Holy Water. Sad but true. Fortunately,there is this book by Rev. Henry Theiler that talks about it entitled "Holy Water and its Significance for Catholics" that will provide awareness about it and one will definitely provide a better appreciation of it both as a sacramental and a spiritual weapon. Although the book was written more than a hundred years ago back in 1909, the information contained in it remains relevant up to these modern times in the 21st century.
The Holy Water is more than just a water that was given a blessing by the priest. It can deepen our prayers as it makes our prayers twice as strong as it allows the presence of the Holy Spirit; it gives more life to our spiritually; it keeps the presence of the devil away; it sanctifies whenever it is used as a blessing; and many more. You'll be surprised with the many graces it provides us. It also provides a list of prayers that one would find useful when using it.
This is a short but worthy read. The information contained in it will definitely be helpful and useful in one's relationship with the Lord. Amen!!!
